ART
Process
not product is the basis for the art program. Children love drawing,
painting, and creating, and daily activities are used in the classroom to
help children develop fine muscle control, visual discrimination, math
concepts, growth in use of language, self-confidence, and creative
expression.
Art is integrated throughout all areas of the curriculum.
MUSIC
Music
is used to enhance all areas of the curriculum.
As children sing and engage in rhythm activities, they grow in the
use of language, develop math concepts,
learn to follow directions and develop an appreciation for
different types of music. The
children receive music through experiences in the classroom chapel and
music performances.
PHYSICAL
EDUCATION
The
four-year-old students engage in movement activities that emphasize gross
motor development. Time is
allowed for the children to explore, exercise and refine their large
muscle skills in the classroom, on the playground, and under the direction
of a physical education specialist from Hot Springs Gymnastics providing developmentally
appropriate activities. In
addition, children engage in activities across the curriculum that support
and enhance fine motor development.
SPANISH
Students
in the four-year-old program focus
on the spoken language of Spanish presented by a experienced specialist.
Children study vocabulary that is drawn from their immediate
environment, including greetings, colors, numbers, family members, body
parts, weather, and community helpers.
COMPUTER
LAB
Students have access to computers in
each classroom. Each class is scheduled for the computer lab which
has the newest computers and software that is age
appropriate for the students. Access to the internet will be filtered for
their protection and monitored at all times.
LIBRARY
An up to date library is maintained by
a certified librarian. Children have access to the library in the mornings
or at regularly scheduled times.
